Where are you from and if you aren't from here, what brought you to Houston?
I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. I moved to Houston three years ago for work after living in New York for ten years.
What got you into the fitness in the first place?
My background is in dance and gymnastics. However, when I discovered strength training three years ago, I became hooked on the barbell.
Have you had any experience with fitness competitions or tournaments?
Yes. I compete in both powerlifting and weightlifting. I will be headed to USAPL raw Nationals in October.
How did you find out about ROW Studios?
What’s your day-job?
Coaching is my day job right now. I coach at two other Crossfit gyms as well.
How do you keep up with your health and nutrition on a day-to-day basis?
I try to estimate my macros and weigh and measure my food sometimes. The key is to get educated about the basic science of fat loss and muscle gain and not to sweat the small stuff.
What's your favorite restaurant in Houston?
Do you have any tips for getting a workout in while travelling this summer?
I am the queen of hotel/beach/park/wherever workouts. The internet is great for this, but find whatever tools you have and create circuits around them. If you have no equipment at all, my favorite movements include push-ups, handstands, sit-ups, running, burpees, lunges, and air squats. Be creative! Don't just run!
Do you have any fun facts for us this #funfactfriday?
I'm also good at pole dancing and regularly take pole fitness classes.
Do you have any advice for our first-time All Strength clients?
Strength is life! Stick with it and it will pay off. In addition to being able to lift heavy things (which is awesome), more muscle mass also equals a higher metabolism and a hotter bod!
